Mordialloc pier is still producing garfish in the early morning and late afternoon. You must berley and use thin line to your hooks as the water in clear and the days are bright.
The Mordi creek has been fishing great from bream over the last few weeks. Fishing worm or prawn will offer best results but you’ll need to be an early bird and get there at dawn!
A couple of yak fishermen have been doing real well early morning out the front of Mordialloc pier on the pinkie snapper. They have been casting Berkley 3" and 4" minnows and giving the pinkies a hard time. Some of the fish are up around the 2 kilo mark with plenty around the 30 to 35cm mark.
Mornington has been going off with squid for quite some time now. Jim Takos and his family when down last night off the rocks and got 37 in 2 hours of which he kept a good feed. Jim repots the best jig by far was the Megabass Dart Crew ‘Gold Suji Pink’. He changed jigs 5 times to different colours and nothing work as well as this jig. He even changed to the same brand but it was a combination of action and the colour of this jig that made the difference.
Soft plastic anglers have been having some fun fishing in behind the break wall at Brighton casting 3î & 4î Gulp minnows for flathead. Wading out into the water and casting into the darker depressions is how it’s done and some of the flathead are over 1kg. Good fishing!

Matt Cini reports that this week has seen the whiting are still playing the game with great captures. The average size of the fish, have been between 42-49cm. The best spots have been the top of the Middle spit, Tyabb bank, and out the front of Warneet. Best baits have been pippies and mussel and it would be worth giving the berkley 4" worms a go. The whiting have been as shallow as 1m right through to 7m of water. To book a charter with matt contact him on 0438 302 093 or emailwww.reeltimefishing.com.au
